Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett Smith are boycotting the 2016 Academy Awards. Jada announced her boycott via a Facebook video posted today.
This isn't the first time that minorities - both of the Hollywood persuasion and us regular folk - have been up in arms over the lack of diversity in the nominations. This year, there is not ONE person of color nominated in a top category.
Pinkett remained the epitome of class during the video, making sure to wish this year's host, and friend, Chris Rock good luck.
Just this week Rock himself tweeted, " The #Oscars. The White BET Awards."
It should be noted, however, that Pinkett Smith's husband was snubbed for his role in Concussion. Just sayin'.
Perhaps these announcements are the perfect way to celebrate the 30th MLK Day.
